Yes terrific! Well done to Doug for enriching our lives with the Sunday history lessons and with the wonderful tales of the now dearly departed Dusty.

And thanks to David & Michelle for your thoughtfulness in providing Doug with the life membership and telling us all about it so we can also enjoy it for Doug's sake.

Onya mate - I've never met you but hope to some day.

Doug's interest in history is more than just Sunday's posts. He has set up a fascinating walk around an old WW2 radio base on Mt Bundy station.

I've posted this link before but it's worth doing again.

I will also join the chorus of Congratulations Doug, it is well deserved.
If we ever get up that way Hubby and I will definitely meet up with you as for us, it's not just the Sunday History Lessons that you put up each Sunday, (which I enjoy), we still remember your help and concern (& that photo which I still have a copy of) when we went through the loss of our Simba.
Well done Doug.

Congratulations Doug, and good on EO for rewarding you. The work you put into find the photos and information must take a lot of time, considerably more than the time it takes us to read your offering each Sunday. These, in addition to your website, show you are a true War Historian.

Congratulations to Doug and a big 'well done' to EO.

Now the problem is that only we at EO have had the privilege of enjoying Doug's efforts and that does seem to be a shame since there is such a large gap in the 'historical' knowledge of our younger generations.

Surely there is some way that these contributions can be spread wider through media syndication or social networking eg BLOGs, Facebook,Utube etc so that many more people can become enlightened.
Just a thought.

Kevin J

PS What about putting them in a book Doug?

We join with others in congratulating Doug on a great effort. Not only does it take a lot of time to research articles, but I am constantly amazed at how he continually comes up with interesting topics.

Its also great to see David and Michelle recognising such efforts in a creative way - a sure way to add value to the whole site.

Cheers,

The life membership is totally deserved, you put so much effort into your presentations.

You may see Capt Molasses in the background of this photo.
